From the sacred Mukhba Temple, to the tranquil Gaumukh & breathtaking Neelong and Harsil Valley.
Uttarakhand is also known as “Dev Bhoomi” or “The Land of the Gods” and Char Dham Yatra is one of the biggest attractions. Gangotri, a significant site in the Char Dham pilgrimage, is home to the sacred Ganga river and is on every Hindu pilgrim’s itinerary. The main temple is closed during winters, but the deity can be visited at the temple at Mukhwa village instead.
The Mukhba temple is the winter home of Goddess Ganga. It stays open when the Gangotri temple can't be accessed due to heavy snowfall. This is about 10-15 minutes from Prakriti The Retreat.
Near Mukhba village, you will find Kalp Kedar Temple. Kalp Kedar is associated with the Pandavas of the Mahabharata fame and is said to be constructed originally by them. The temple is partially submerged in water. About 6-9 ft of Kalp Kedar Temple still remains underwater after it was submerged in water following a glacial shift in 1935-38.
